The Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) has decided to bring about a revolution against corruption and pledged to fight against the scourge in the village of Calangute as well as other parts of the State.
“Every panchayat offices and other government offices will be on our radar to check the illegalities and corruption involved in all development projects in the villages. We will make the authorities accountable for the public money spent on development by checking its quality and documentation,” said Premanand Diukar, President of CCF.
He said projects like renovation of Aguada jail to be converted into museum will be closely monitored through filling RTIs to bring transparency in expenditure made through public funds.
He said some administrative heads of different village panchayats were misusing their powers and indulged in activities of corruption.
“Their actions will be closely monitored and exposed to in case they are found of having involved in dereliction in performing their duties as per the guidelines laid in the Goa Panchayat Raj Act,” he said.
He further informed that awareness programmes on enforcement of youth force will be launched to encourage their effective participation in the panchayat affairs.
“Knowledge will be shared through different programmes on current affairs, Panchayat Raj Act, benefits to common people as rural village, effects of urbanisation, constitutional right of the people,” he said.
He also said that women and child empowerment programmes, assistance to senior citizens, assistance to under-privileged, awareness on importance of green revolution shall be the part of the year-long programmes.
