Calangute murder case: Two property brokers arrested

Panaji: The Calangute Police Station has arrested two people in connection with a recent murder. On Friday, John Gracious Fernandes reported that his 64-year-old relative, Deodita Fernandes, had been killed in her flat at Benson Apartments, Naikavaddo, Calangute.

The police arrested Aaquib, also known as Aman Shaukat Khalfe, from Ratnagiri, and Nikhil Chandrakant Raje, from Mapusa but originally from Pune, Maharashtra. The arrest took place at a petrol pump in Anjuna.

The investigation reveals that the suspects are property brokers and were involved in a dispute over commission from the sale of Ms. Fernandes' property. After the murder, they transferred money from her bank account to their own and were caught withdrawing money at the petrol pump.

An autopsy at GMC Hospital in Bambolim confirmed that Deodita Fernandes was strangled with a rope in her flat. The police are still investigating and searching for other suspects who may be involved.
