Camurlim sarpanch ousted

The no-confidence motion brought against the Camurlim sarpanch was successfully passed 4-0 in the panchayat office.
When discussion on the no-trust motion was taken up only four panchayat members were present while the beleaguered sarpanch, Chayya Sharad Gad and two other panchayat members remained absent.
A special meeting was called on January 12 to discuss the no-trust vote in the panchayat office which was passed and the sarpanch, Chayya Sharad Gad was voted out.
Four panchayat members “ Deputy Sarpanch Sanjana Sachin Mashelkar, Sangeeta Bhiku Naik Pednekar, Dharmendra Parab and Pandurang Gangaram Khorjuvekar “ who were present for the meeting had moved the no-confidence motion against the sarpanch.
While moving the no-confidence motion the majority of the panchayat members said that the sarpanch was taking unilateral decisions without taking them into confidence.
Besides the sarpanch, panchayat members Ranjana Kailas Naik and Laxman Naik remained absent.
Mahesh Kuttikar Extension Officer was the observer from the BDO office at the meeting while panchayat secretary, Premanand Mandrekar assisted him.
In the seven-member Camurlim panchayat, the post of Deputy Sarpanch is reserved for women.
