MARGAO
Fish unloading and transportation activities in the village, the retaining wall at the mouth of river Sal, non-opening of beach accesses were among the issues that dominated the gram sabha of Cavelossim village panchayat on Sunday.
Gram sabha members demanded to know from the sarpanch Dennis the steps initiated by the panchayat body against the unloading and transportation of fish. Gram sabha member Irish Passainha demanded to know whether any permission from the CRZ authority was obtained by the party before starting the activities. He said the panchayat should take immediate action since the activities are being opposed by the people.
Sarpanch Dennis informed the gram sabha that the panchayat had carried out an inspection of the activities. He said the panchayat will now verify the trade license, if any, before taking action. The issue of beach accesses was also discussed. Members demanded to know whether the owners have opened the accesses till date. Sarpanch Dennis informed one of the beach accesses has been opened. He said the panchayat would now pursue the question of construction of the road with CRZ permission.
