The Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) has alleged massive destruction of beach vegetation and sand dunes in the No Development Zone (NDZ) area within 50 mtrs from HTL by a starred hotel in Candolim.
The Candolim panchayat on Thursday conducted an inspection of the alleged illegality and directed the Calangute Police to seize the JCB involved in carrying out the alleged illegal work at the site.
The CCF complained against the alleged illegal work being carried out in the jurisdiction of village panchayat Candolim. The forum also filed another complaint against alleged illegal construction in the adjacent property where sand and beach vegetation has been destroyed using a JCB machine.
Candolim Sarpanch Fermino Fernandes along with the former sarpanch Blaize Fernandes and the panchayat secretary were present for the site inspection.
According to CCF President, Premanand Diukar, the Candolim Sarpanch Fermino Fernandes requested the Calangute Police Inspector who was present at the site to attach the JCB involved in carrying out the destruction work.
