Chicalim votes counting on Mar 8
VASCO: The counting of votes to elect the new Chicalim sarpanch is scheduled for March 8.
According to BDO Uday R Prabhu Dessai, a special meeting has been convened at the panchayat on March 8, and the counting will be done in the presence of all 11 panchayat members.
Dessai said the sealed ballot box has been kept at the Chicalim Panchayat Ghar and is being guarded by the police.
“After the special meeting, the votes will be counted and the new sarpanch will be declared. As far as court hearing is concerned, the proceedings are going on,” said Dessai.
Asked why he had mentioned that the counting would take place in the court a day after the elections on March 1, Dessai admitted that it was a mistake and that, he was confused.
