MARGAO: The Margao wholesale fish market Association will knock the doors of the Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma on Monday seeking his intervention in the fish trade before the agents implement their decision to stop import of fish into the state from November 1.
Given that Saturday was a holiday and yesterday being a Sunday, the fish agents could not send any correspondence to the office of the Chief Secretary. Association president M Ibrahim, however, said that a formal letter will be addressed to the Chief Secretary to intervene in the situation and resolve the imbroglio over the fish trade.
“If no solution is forthcoming from the government side in the next three days, the Association will go ahead with our decision and stop the import of fish till the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) sets up a fish testing laboratory in the wholesale fish market to restore the confidence of the people,” Ibrahim said.
