A local dropped a bomb on the Chimbel gram sabha on Sunday by raising suspicion of the presence of Bangladeshis and Pakistanis at Indira Nagar locality, even as he urging the panchayat to write to the Union Home Minister to conduct a survey on the lines of NRC.
Speaking on the issue, Tukaram Kunkolkar said that the migrant menace is growing every passing day in Indira Nagar and there is no check on the persons residing there.
“There is a possibility of Bangladeshis and Pakistanis residing in Indira Nagar due to which the panchayat should write to the Home Minister Amit Shah to conduct a survey on the lines of NRC so that the identity of the residents is established,” Kunkolkar demanded.
Kunkolkar also demanded that the panchayat should conduct a survey of all households at Indira Nagar and verify the number of these which have been sold by the allottees. “The survey should also include information of the number of houses given on rent as well as for commercial purpose,” he informed while passing a resolution to this effect.
The issue of erratic water supply at Goulebhat was also raised with the locals complaining of low water pressure. They also complained that the supply lasted only an hour, which was not enough to meet the water requirements of the villagers.
Gurudas Shirodkar raised the issue of the filling of pond used for Ganesh immersion and other religious activities at Ganvanth and demanded that the same should be restored to its original status. Shirodkar also demanded that the traditional pathway of the locals, which has been blocked, should be opened for the public.
Discussion on audit report was also taken up with the villagers pointing out that the panchayat has been found guilty on several counts in the report. “Many discrepancies have been pointed out in the audit report, which the panchayat should correct first and then place the same at the gram sabha for approval,” a villager stated.
The issue of a mega project coming up at the Kadamba Plateau, opposite V2 mall, was also raised with the villagers resolving to oppose the same.
However, sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar stated that the panchayat has not received any formal application regarding the said project.
