The Chimbel panchayat razed over 20 illegal kiosks at Indira Nagar, Chimbel on Friday.
The action comes after demolition orders for the kiosks were issued by the panchayat upon the complaint of Revolutionary Goans Party’s member Rohit Shirodkar.
Sources informed The Goan that the demolition exercise started in the morning and continued till evening.
“There was some commotion after one of the kiosks was left untouched as it had a moveable kiosk license,” the source said while adding that the panchayat authorities intervened and told the kiosk owner to move the kiosk from the site.
Speaking to The Goan about the demolition, RGP leader Ajay Kholkar informed that the demolition was pending for a long and with today’s demolition, their objective of getting the illegal kiosks is achieved.
