Private doctors have joined hands in a big way in the battle against Covid by opening hospitals for patients, even as they have underscored the need for the administration to come up with stringent measures to make the common man realize the seriousness of the second wave of the pandemic in the state.
India Medical Association Margao chief Dr Babita Prabhudesai also brought out the startling fact that while people from across the country come to celebrate weddings without Covid-negative certificates, these people make a rush to obtain negative certificates while returning home to their native states.
“We are indeed in a grave situation because people are finding it hard to find beds. The medical fraternity, both private and government, are doing their best to reach out to the people with help and assistance. While private doctors have been helping patients in home isolation with teleconferencing, we have now opened a couple of private hospitals in Margao for Covid,” Dr Babita said.
She, however, pointed out that the administration should clamp down heavily on violators of Covid safety norms to bring about seriousness amongst the common man.
Meanwhile, private doctors have suggested suitable medication in the guidelines for Covid patients when their RT-PCR tests show negative results, but the case is full-blown pneumonia.
“We have come across cases when the RT-PCR test has shown negative, but the CT-scan report shows that the patient has full-blown pneumonia,” Prabhudesai said.
She said modification in the Covid admission guidelines will help the private medical fraternity to admit full-blown pneumonia patients and avoid legal issues.
