Urging the newly recruited police staff to respect the ‘uniform’, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday warned the young recruits against getting involved in wrong deeds that could blemish the department and the State.
Addressing the passing out parade of the 49th batch of recruit constables at PTS Valpoi, Sawant also announced plans to promote constables with graduation, post-graduation, and mechanical engineering degrees.
A total of 175 constables, 125 female constables, and 473 trainees participated in the passing out parade.
“One thing everyone should keep in mind is that they should respect their police uniform. You should not engage yourself in any act that will blemish this uniform and the department,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that as police personnel, it is their duty to serve people, provide them with justice, and maintain peace.
“You should not commit any mistakes while serving the people because you have received training, legal knowledge, and mental fitness. In the next 30 years of your service, you will face many challenges. By addressing those challenges, you have to work and maintain respect for the department,” he added.
He further stated that the Home Department provides training at various stages and is also adopting new technologies to provide better services and justice to the people.
In the recent past, the State Police had drawn flak over their alleged involvement in various illicit activities, including extortion.
