Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hailed the inclination of Goan youth to take up farming which he said is in tune with the Swayampurna Goa vision.
“I am pleased to note that people and youth in Goa are getting increasingly inclined toward farming and traditional agricultural methods, as they embrace the vision of Swayampurna Goa,” he said while inaugurating the Krishi Mahotsav 2024 at the Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim.
He said the Mahotsav will serve as a platform for farmers to learn about new technologies that can support them to be Swayampurna, fostering development in the agricultural sector in Goa.
Sawant said that 915 hectares of land is irrigated under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana and 5,892 farmers enrolled under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which is a reflection of the government’s commitment to uplifting the farming community and Goa’s agriculture sector.
Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik and other officials and dignitaries also attended the event where farmers will display their produce and value-added products over two days.
