The Cuncolim Police have booked 49-year-old Rajendra Gaonkar, a resident of Bendurdem-Balli, under the Arms Act and for offenses under sections 336 and 338 of the IPC for endangering the lives of the general public by keeping an illegal firearm in his possession.
Rajendra was rushed to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, on Saturday after he sustained multiple pellet injuries on his body, including thigh and chest.
During the investigation, the Cuncolim police pointed out that Rajendra was found illegally possessing a single-barrel firearm without having any valid license from the competent authority.
The police further stated that the accused negligently used the firearm, resulting in causing grievous injuries to himself and endangering the lives of the general public by keeping the illegal firearm in his possession. The accused is presently undergoing treatment at GMC.
