When The Goan contacted Tendulkar to shed light on reports doing the rounds in political circles over the imminent change in the BJP Legislature party, he termed the reports as mere rumours without any basis. “There’s no truth in reports that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will soon be replaced by the party leadership. I can say that there will be no change in the Chief Minister till the Assembly elections,” Tendulkar said.
Replying to another question, Tendulkar said that the question over who will lead the 2017 election campaign and other issues will be decided by the Party Parliamentary Board.
There have been reports doing the rounds in political circles that the RSS leadership had been strongly rooting for Panchayat Minister Rajendra Arlekar to take over the reigns of the government by replacing Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
Sources said the RSS leadership is upset with both, CM and Parrikar for their stand on the contentious MoI issue. “All these reports of a change in the BJP Legislature party are rumours and false. CM will remain in office till the election,” Tendulkar added.
