The Harbour coastal police have registered an offence against two persons for operating a boat without licence thus endangering the lives of passengers and crew members at sea.
According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday around 6:30 pm off the coast of Dona Paula.
Vasudev Calangutkar, the owner of the boat "MV Nerul Paradise," allegedly permitted Abhishek Rathod, to operate the inland passenger vessel without the necessary documents or licenses from the competent authority.
The situation escalated when Rathod, negligently navigated into the sea, putting the lives of passengers and crew members at risk. Consequently, the boat became stranded, as Rathod could not navigate the boat in the sea and had to be rescued by the Indian Coast Guard.
The Coastal Police have filed charges under Sections 280, 336 read with 34 of the IPC.
