Colva Sarpanch Snowkon Gonsalves was on Monday finally voted out of office in a no confidence motion.
The motion against the sarpanch was carried by 5-0 votes. The sarpanch and three other panch members did not attend the meeting called specifically to discuss the no confidence motion.
Though Snowkon had earlier told the media that he would face the motion, he was conspicuous by his absence. Incidentally, this is the second time that a no confidence motion was tabled against Snowkon. Previous attempt to dislodge him from office had fizzled out.
The signatories to the motion, Menino Fernandes Blaizy Fernandes, Cajy Fernandes, Natalina Fernandes and Calvert Gonsalves were present and voted in support of the motion.
The signatories had alleged that the sarpanch, who has been presiding over the Colva panchayat affairs since the panchayat election held in 2012, did not implement development works inspite of numerous proposals and has been selectively following up development works of panchas whom he fancied.
