An unhappy Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and PWD Principal Chief Engineer A G S Borkar on Monday directed a team of PWD superintending engineer, executive engineers and sewerage engineers to study the issue in detail to put an end to the water presence in the subway within 15 days.
In the past, the very same engineers had attributed the presence of water in the subway to a nearby storm water drain. Instead of ascertaining the source of the waste water finding its way to the Subway “ perhaps for the first time in four years since its commissioning “ PWD engineers had tried to downplay the issue, even as parents and students had complained of foul odour, suspecting that the water either comes from a waste water soakpit or a damaged sewerage line.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat told the media that the PWD engineers have been given a clear brief by the Principal Chief Engineer to identify the source and plug the seepage.
While water had made its presence felt in the subway around December, there’s been no serious efforts made by the PWD engineers to identify the source and plug the seepage. This despite the fact that the Comba subway is being used by thousands of students
every day.
