Members of the State Congress committee went into a huddle on Friday with Goa desk in-charge All India Congress Committee secretary Dr A Chellakumar inviting all top members of the party including the 16 MLAs for a tête-à -tête in the hope of selecting a new face to lead the party in the State.
Outgoing president Shantaram Naik submitted his resignation to the party high command earlier this week, effectively vacating the top spot for a younger leader. In his last press address, Naik concurred with AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s call to infuse fresh blood into the party’s top rungs.
