MARGAO
Congress working president Aleixo Sequeira on Wednesday firmly denied that he had called on BJP election strategist Devendra Fadnavis, asserting that he has never in his life met the former Maharashtra Chief Minsiter.
Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party leaders, Adv Amit Palekar and Wenzy Viegas for trying to create confusion amongst the people of Goa, Sequeira said the AAP leaders have been trying to confuse Goans by painting the Congress as the B team of the BJP. “I would like to clarify that it is the AAP which is the B team of the BJP. AAP leaders have been in touch with me to join the party. The Congress is the only opposition to the BJP in Goa,” he said.
Referring to a banner put up near his residence on bribes being taken for jobs, Sequeira dared anyone to come and say that he had taken money for providing jobs during his stint as Minister.
“I must have given around 3,000 jobs during my stint as a Minister. Never ever had I taken any money from the candidates. Let any of these candidates come and say I had taken money,” he challenged.
He exuded confidence that people of Goa will not get fooled by AAP promise to sponsor pilgrimages after the party comes to power in the State. “People of Goa are not fools to fall prey to such promises. Moreover, any party should have a government to fund such pilgrimages,” he added.
