The Congress has questioned the BJP’s double standards on the issue of Planning and Development Areas with the government forging ahead with PDA areas on one hand while opposing them in Taleigao.
“You are in the ruling party,” Chodankar said responding to Dattaprasad Naik’s comments that he opposed the PDA in Taleigao. “You cannot oppose just as an eyewash. All these PDA decisions are your party’s. If you have objections, change it using the power of the government that rests with your party,” he added.
Speaking to the media AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar also called for the government to publish a white paper on how many conversions have been issued over the last six years while the Regional Plan 2021 was allegedly in abeyance.
“Their 2012 manifesto had spoken about rectifying the Regional Plan by taking people into confidence. After their lies and deceit for 5 years their government… BJP and Manohar Parrikar owe an explanation to the people of Goa why they kept the regional plan in abeyance for six years,” Chodankar said.
“Our stand has always been with the people. Be it the SEZ, Regional Plan or the casinos. If people still have an objection to the GPPDA, the government should consider those,” Chodankar said.
“Before proceeding on anything to do with this RP, give us all an explanation of what you were doing in the last six years,” Chodankar said.
