'Cool' start to Sumul Op in State

The Surat District Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Limited (SUMUL) installed its first 2,000 litre capacity bulk milk cooler at Velus-Sattari on Tuesday.

Dairy farmer Shaikh Abbas inaugurated the plant in presence of Valpoi Municipal Council Chairperson Ramdas Shirodkar, Valpoi Police Inspector Sanjay Dalvi, Sumul official Kamlesh Patel, Nitesh Chaudary, Sagar Kotkar, Jefrey D’Souza and Sunil Pawar and Anant Pawar.

Speaking to media, Sufiyan Shaikh said that Sumul has established a milk collection centre under the name ‘SS Bachat Gad’ at Velus, wherein the bulk milk cooler had been set up.

“We will procure milk from dairy farmers of Thane, Kumbharkhand, Pissurlem and Velus village under our group SS Bachat Gad,” said Sufiyan Shaikh, who will head the centre.

“Through Sumul, we will provide quality milk to consumers in the State while also offering a good price for the milk procured from local dairy farmers,” he added.

He further said that centre has set up target to procure 10,000 litres of milk daily from farmers in Sattari.
