MARGAO
Margao police rushed to Dramapur village after a skull and skeletal remains were found along the roadside close to a residential house on Monday, even as news spread like wild fire that human body was dumped along the roadside after a murder.
District Police Chief, South Arvind Gawas, Margao PI Kapil Nayak and other police officials rushed to Dramapur after news spread that a corpse was found abandoned in a gunny bag. It, however, turned out that the skull was found close to the compound of a local resident after it was brought by a dog.
The dog is later believed to have brought a femur bone and it was later discovered that a trouser was found in the roadside bushes.
SP Arvind Gawas informed that the Margao police immediately conducted an inquiry in the area to find out whether any person in the locality had gone missing in recent times, but in vain. “Going by the inquiry, it appears that the skeletal remains appeared to be that of a beggar. The police have registered a case of unnatural death,” SP Gawas said.
Local residents of Dramapur, including former sarpanch Domnick Noronha said the police should investigate into the episode saying that the human body must have been dumped at the spot, which is known for dumping of chicken waste. “We have been asking the authorities including the police to crack down on people dumping chicken and other waste along the roadside. It appears that someone must have taken advantage of the chicken waste dumping spot by dumping a gunny bag containing a human body,” Domnick said.
