The Calangute police station got a 'counselling desk' on Wednesday which will be run by Canossa Samajik Vikas Kendra, a social centre of the Arpora-based Canossian Sisters aimed at serving women in distress, intervening in family disputes among others.
Dr Rita Dsouza e Vaz, the chairperson of Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) Goa, inaugurated the counselling desk at Calangute Police Station in the presence of Police Inspector Nolasco Rapose and Sr Grace Rodrigues, the director of Canossa Samajik Vikas Kendra.
Rapose thanked the two organisations -- the Canosian Sisters and YWCA -- for their collaborative effort to set up the counselling desk which he said, will assist the police to better deal with distress cases.
