Court asks cops to submit case diary in Anjuna assault case

The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mapusa has directed the Anjuna Police to produce the case diary pertaining to the investigation into the assault on two brothers in a nightclub at Vagator on November 12.

Magistrate Ashwini Khandolkar’s directions came after Advocate Aires Rodrigues, representing the victims Anish and Aditya Varshnei alleged that police are biased in their investigation.

“Though an oral complaint was made to the police on November 13, 2022, around noon followed by a written complaint the same day at 5 pm against the staff of the night club for that grievous assault, an FIR was registered only on November 14, 2022, at 19:47 hrs against ten unknown persons,” Rodrigues submitted to the Court.

Investigating Officer PSI Francisco Xavier in his reply filed before the Court stated that the case is being investigated from all angles with efforts being made to trace the accused.
