Affirming the importance of cows in Indian culture, Param Pujya Mukundraj Madgaonkar has appealed to people to take steps to protect cows in the State.
He was addressing a Pernem taluka cow lovers' meet organised by Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh Goa and Bharat Swabhiman Kisan Panchayat at the Pernem Shetkari Seva community hall in Pernem.
In his speech, Kamalakant Tari said that the work to shift Gomata and Nandi from the roadside to the Goshala would be made possible, with efforts from the government.
Dairy farmers from Pernem taluka were felicitated on the occasion.
Pernem Shetkari Seva Sangh Chairman, Milind Kerkar; Bharat Swabhiman Goa President, Kamlesh Bandekar; zoologist Eknath Chakurkar; Gomantak Go Seva Organization Secretary, Kamlakant Tari; Pramil Rao; Dr Rohidas Naik and Dr Narendra Pratapsingh were among those present at the function.
