The Davorlim village Panchayat on Thursday conducted an inspection of all the illegal structures along the village road sides as per the directions of the High Court.
The Panchayat has also told the fish vendors, numbering around 50, to move away from the road, with Sarpanch Saish Rajadhyax insisting that vendors have been issued permission to move around the village.
The Sarpanch along with Panchayat members and the Secretary inspected the road side structures in the village on Thursday. Saying the panchayat has set in motion the process as per the directions of the High Court, the Sarpanch pointed out that the inspection report will be placed before the Panchayat meeting before initiating the demolition.
“The Panchayat had issued notices to the business establishments located along the roadside. Today, we have come for an inspection to find out the status. A report will be placed before the Body meeting before taking the process to its logical conclusion”, he said.
To a question, the Sapranch said the panchayat will also demolish all the structures located on the roadside near the military camp area.
Saying the fish vendors have been issued notices by the Health department, Saish informed that the Panchayat would inform the High Court on the illegal pick up vans doing business along the road side.
Meanwhile, a villager Anand Sawant has demanded to know how come the village Panchayat of Davorlim is initiating action against the illegal roadside business establishments when similar action has not been found in neighbouring Margao. “Both the Margao Municipal area and Davorlim village come under the High Court jurisdiction. But, we have not found any action in the commercial capital against the illegal business establishments doing business along the roadside”, Anand questioned.
