In the latest episode of 'who said to whom' in the government, leaving the public confused about who's heading the government, MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai made contradictory statements within a day of each other.
On Monday, Deepak Dhavalikar in an interview had suggested that he had been in talks with Sardesai who was okay with PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar taking over as Chief Minister.
"Vijai wants the government to function. I've spoken to him myself, and he is okay with Sudin being the CM," Dhavalikar had said.
However, when contacted, Vijai told 'The Goan' on Tuesday that there was no question of him saying that, as there was no vacancy for the CM's post.
"At this stage, we're discussing a hypothetical situation," said Sardessai, adding, "We'll cross the bridge when we come to it."
A few days ago, Vijai had stated that even though Parrikar himself wanted to step down in September, the BJP top leadership at the Center had not allowed it.
Deepak Dhavalikar however had been very adamant when he said that the Goa Forward Party was okay with Sudin becoming CM.
When asked whether the BJP would be okay with Sudin becoming CM, Deepak said, "The BJP high command will decide that. We're waiting for them itself all this while. The BJP doesn't have a decision-making leader in Goa. All their decisions are being taken by the high command at the Centre."
