In a strong indication of the government's determination to go ahead with the proposed DefExpo at Betul, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday threatened that an FIR will be filed against those opposing the DefExpo and aero show at Betul plateau.

“If any one creates obstacles for the DefExpo, then an FIR will be registered against those persons concerned,” warned Parsekar, while interacting with reporters along the sidelines of a function to inaugurate hot mixing of road work at Bhatwadi-Arambol on Thursday.

“The DefExpo will be held for four days and structures will be erected on temporary basis, which will be removed after the closing ceremony,” informed Parsekar.

“Those opposing the project should first do a study on this project. Over 1 lakh tourists have booked rooms in starred hotels for the four-day DefExpo,” he added.

Parsekar also appealed to the people to co-operate to carry out works of hot mixing and road widening to be taken up in the villages.

“The main and interior roads in Arambol will be hot-mixed and widened at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore. There can be development due to widened roads and for that, we need the cooperation of the public,” he added.

Arambol ZP Arun Bankar, Arambol Sarpanch Pranali Vaigankar, Deputy Sarpanch Pradeep Naik, Panchas Suvrna Thakur, Prakash Naik and Ramchandra Kerkar, PWD (roads) official Satish Walke and others were present on the occasion.
