In a yet another instance of collaboration in defence sector, Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division (SED) and Saab have decided to jointly develop and manufacture self-protection systems for land-based platforms in India. This announcement came on the sidelines of Defexpo 2016, which is currently happening in Quitol, Quepem.
Saab is a Swedish company involved in manufacturing products for military defence to civil security. The land-based platforms developed in this collaboration will be for Indian market and also for Saab’s global market.
Saab’s press release said, “The process of transfer of technology for production of initial orders for Saab’s global customers has already commenced at Tata Power SED facility in Bangalore”
Jan Winderstrom, chairman & managing director, Saab India Technologies, said, “Saab is fully committed to working with Indian industry to Make-in-India. Tata Power SED’s strength in defence electronics manufacturing are a perfect complement to Saab’s expertise in electronic warfare systems”
The just unveiled defence procurement procedure (DPP) 2016 is aimed at promoting collaboration between Indian and foreign companies so that Indian industry matures and through technology transfer becomes self-reliant in defence products.
