Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had to face some embarrassing moments in the presence of Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and ministers from other states, when a delay to convene a news conference by almost two hours led to an angry outburst by the local media.
The news conference on the sidelines of a two-day conference of Power, Renewable Energy & Mines Ministers of States & Union Territories at Arossim, was initially scheduled at 1 pm.
When the delay exceeded one-and-half hours, a local mediaperson directly confronted Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar in the presence of Union Minister Piyush Goyal and other State Ministers, seeking an explanation for the delay for the media briefing.
A visibly nervous and embarrassed Parsekar tried to pacify the scribe, and the news conference quickly got underway after nearly a two-hour delay.
Later responding to criticism, Goyal apologised for the inordinate delay in holding the news conference and assured that such situations would not repeat in future.
