PORVORIM

There was lukewarm response for the gram sabha of Village Panchayat of Penha de Franca held on Sunday. Not even 50 residents were present for the gram sabha meeting. Since there was no quorum the gram sabha started at 11 a.m.

Agnel Pereira sought to know from the Sarpanch as to why there is poor response for the gram sabha and whether panchayat has tried to find the reason for the same.

Ganpat Siddhaye mentioned that he feels people have lost faith in the panchayat as the latter are not  executing the resolutions adopted in the gram sabha. The sarpanch refused to accept this as the reason for the poor response for the gram sabha.

The villagers mentioned that in the last  gram sabha villagers had objected  to  the inclusion of survey numbers 91/5, 91/7, 90/1, 36/1, 5/1 and Mandovi River, 38/0(p), 52/1, 59/0, 58/0, 71/2 and Nallah of Penha de Franca  in the Panjim Planning area  by Town and country Planning department. The villagers sought to know whether TCP has de-notified the same as assured by TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane verbally to the panchayat.

Sarpanch Sapnil Chodankar mentioned that panchayat has not received any reply as yet from TCP. So the panchayat will be sending a reminder in this regard to the TCP.

Agnel Pereira mentioned that Soccoro panchayat has demolished the scrapyards in their jurisdiction. so why Penha de Franca panchayat cannot take such action against the scrapyards in the panchayat area. The sarpanch assured to look into the matter.

The villagers complained that the hotmixing of internal villager roads done by the contractor is not satisfactory. The panchayat should inspect the hotmixing of the roads so that during rains the tar does not get washed away.

The sarpanch mentioned that the panchayat proposes to open an extension office of the panchayat on Porvorim plateau for the benefit of the residents residing on plateau and are on the look out for suitable space.

The issues regarding garbage , collection of house and professional tax, construction of library building, shifting of kiosks at Malim were also discussed in the gramsabha.

Earlier sarpanch Chodfankar welcomed the villagers. The panchayat secretary Suresh Phadte read out the minutes of the last gram sabha .Vinod Kumbarjuvekar read out the details of income and expenditure  of the proposed budget estimates for the year 2023-24. The panch member Safar Phadte proposed vote of thanks.
