Dhirios prohibited in State

PANAJI: The State government once again pursuant to the High Court jJudgment in writ petition No. 347/1996 has directed that all types of animals fights including bull fights and or dhirios are prohibited in the State and if any person violates the above order passed by the High Court, he she shall be liable for criminal action as per the law.

The High Court of Bombay at Goa while disposing off the writ petition had observed that the bull fights or dhirios are in contravention of the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1968, and therefore, illegal and cannot be permitted to be organised and are prohibited in the State.
