OLD GOA
Differences cropped up between some committee members and the panchayat authorities over the preparation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GBDP) of the Chimbel Panchayat with the villagers seeking time to study the plan to enable them to make suggestions and changes to it.
After much discussion, it was later decided to hold another round of discussion on the GBDP on the occasion of Republic Day, after the special gram sabha is over.
Though some members informed The Goan that they were not taken into confidence while preparing the plan, the panchayat authorities refuted the allegations by stating that the suggestions received from the committee members were included.
The panchayat authorities also said the plan is not a final one and it is open for suggestions and changes.
When questioned by The Goan whether the development of IT Park was included in the plan, the authorities said there was no mention of IT Park in the plan. “Development of IT Park requires crores of rupees and therefore there was no question of including that in the GBDP,” a panch opined.
However, the villagers claimed that development of IT Park figured in the plan, contrary to the stand taken, in the past, by them and the panchayat authorities to oppose the IT Park in the village.
Now, all eyes are on January 26 when the GBDP is expected to be see changes.
