Taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) in the mining case, the South Goa Sessions court on Monday issued summons to former Chief Minister and Margao MLA, Digambar Kamat, Prafulla Hede and former geologist in department of Mines, A T D’Souza to appear before the court at the
next date of hearing.
When the matter came up before IInd Additional Judge Sayonara Laad on Monday, the court took cognizance of the SIT chargesheet against the trio and ordered issuance of summons to appear before the court at the next date.
Sources said that the trio will have to appear in court before the arguments are heard on framing charges against them. The court has taken cognizance of the chargesheet within 10 days after the SIT filed the investigation documents in the South Goa Sessions court on January 18.
The SIT had conducted investigations into the case following a complaint lodged by the Director of Mines Prasanna Acharya.
