Next time, think twice before letting your pet dog out. A resident from Aldona learnt this the hard way after his pet dog snapped at a neighbour’s two-and-half year old girl on Friday last week.
The owners of the pet dog, Cajetan and Veronica D’Cunha, were booked by Mapusa Police for the negligent behaviour of their pet.
Police informed that the girl was playing outside her building when the dog suddenly appeared and snapped at the little girl’s thigh.
Her brother, who was also around, was numbed by the dog’s aggressive charge. It was only when the child’s father rushed out on hearing his daughter screaming and shouted at the dog, did the canine relent. The girl suffered a little cut on her thigh, police informed.
The child’s mother, Violet Nazareth, later filed a complaint against her neighbours with the Mapusa Police.
Acting on the complaint, police booked the D’Cunhas under Section 289 of the IPC for negligent conduct with respect to animal.
Mapusa PSI Rohan Madgavkar is investigating the case.
