The general body meet of FORCE, which was called for soliciting suggestions from parents, also witnessed Lopes giving a clarion to all of them not to elect “liars”. He termed the the BBSM demand for stopping grants to schools imparting primary education in English as anti-Bahujan Samaj and one that will deprive the latter of education in English. “I am ready for a debate on this. They are out to deprive Bahujan Samaj of English education. We are fighting for equality,” Lopes told the parents.
FORCE will also write to Education Minister Laxmikant Parsekar seeking to know the time frame within which their demand of converting the present policy of the government of continuing grants for 1030-odd schools imparting primary education in English, into an Act will be fulfilled.
At the meet, Lopes informed parents about the current status of MoI issue, while slamming few people, who, he claimed, are scared of losing their hold over the people.
He slammed the trio of Uday Bhembre, Arvind Bhatikar and Pundalik Naik, terming them as “worst people” Goa has ever had. “They are spoiling the culture of Goa,” Lopes remarked.
Quoting information sourced from a national magazine, Lopes told parents how RSS is running English schools. Lopes said if this information is incorrect, as mentioned by some people, then such people should sue the magazine for defamation.
Turning his focus on the government, Lopes said, “The government is fooling us,” he stated, while asking people to “remain alert” and “select properly” during the forthcoming elections. “The Chief Minister has backstabbed the House where he reneged on his promise last July that he would take up the Bill assuring the continuation of grants and pass it in the January Session,” he said, while adding, “If they lie, they will not get elected. Don’t elect persons who take others for a ride.” In the same vein, Lopes also appealed to the people to remain united.
Secretary of Diocesan Society of Education, Fr Zeferino D’Souza, also endorsed Lopes’ plea for unity. He also warned the parents about the centre’s new education policy while expressing apprehensions about it.
