BELAGAVI
Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), Philadelphia, USA presented an honorary doctorate to KLE Society Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore. The honorary Doctor of Science was conferred upon Dr Kore earlier this week during the 198th graduation ceremony.
The convocation ceremony was held at Thomas Jefferson University, the second oldest university in the USA. He is the first and only Indian to receive this honour.
Dr Richard J Derman from the university said that Dr Kore has been instrumental in taking the KLE Society and KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) to new heights.
“Apart from creating world-class infrastructure in a tier II city like Belagavi, Dr Kore has also ensured a very high quality of traditional and professional education, high calibre research and state of the art, affordable healthcare facilities through a modern hospital for the poor and needy. He is the first Indian to receive this honour,” Dr Derman said.
The India Centre for Studies at Thomas Jefferson University was also inaugurated during the convocation. Expressing his gratitude for the doctorate Dr Kore said that his commitment toward excellence at regional and global levels continues unabated through the institutions. “The academic and research collaboration between KAHER and Thomas Jefferson,” he ascertained.
