Drishti Lifesaving Pvt Ltd said termination procedures as per law have been initiated against some of the lifeguards who absconded from work during the strike earlier this month.
In a statement, Drishti said show-cause notices have been issued to lifeguards over the last two weeks. The company is following the procedures as laid down by the law of the country and initiated disciplinary action on staff who absconded from work, it stated.
“Drishti cannot consider it a strike since no notice or charter of demands has been shared with the management. Termination procedures as per law have been initiated,” the press note added.
Dirshti said training of new lifeguards was in progress and it expects to reach full strength by November 30, 2019, in time for the peak tourist season.
It said option was given to the lifeguards to join back.
Some of these lifeguards stayed away from work in spite of serving repeated deadlines, it stated.
Drishti said the company has paid all dues to its staff as well as bonuses. “No dues are outstanding. Lifeguards have been requested to return their official uniforms by November 1,” Drishti said.
The company claimed all beaches continue to be manned effectively by a team of highly skilled lifeguards, supervisors and trainers. “In addition, the company has deployed additional equipment and resources to augment any operational gaps. The beaches are well supervised and safe for visitors,” it noted.
Drishti has urged tourists to heed to warnings of the lifeguards not to enter the water anywhere, besides the swim zones.
