Drivers of the KTC Electra buses have claimed on Friday that they are not working as employees of the Kadamba Transport Corporation, but have been engaged by an agency without any job security.
The drivers, numbering around 80, have claimed that the management deducts from the salary in the event the bus meets with an accident, pointing out that accidents can take place for any vehicle plying on the roads.
“Since we are driving the KTC Electra buses on various routes in the state, it is our plea to the government to take us on the KTC rolls. We are being paid a monthly salary of around Rs 22,000, but we do not receive the full salary as the agency claims some deductions need to be complied with’ "they claimed.
Saying that the agency which has recruited them to drive the KTC buses has terminated a couple of drivers without giving reasons or justifications, they have reiterated their demand that the governmenttakes them on the rolls of the KTC.
