Falling trees keep Curchorem firemen busy

The Curchorem fire personnel were kept on their toes attending calls of falling of trees since the last two days.
Uprooting of trees were reported in Sanguem and Quepem due to heavy rains.
Speaking to The Goan, fire officer and in-charge of Curchorem fire station Shailesh Gawade said they attended more than 10 emergency calls since the last two days. “Some were at Caurem, Maina and Quepem in Quepem area and some were in Sanguem. We are trying our best to attend to and clear all emergency calls,” Gawade added.
He informed that a tree fell on a house near Kalay Panchayat at Khutkarwada-Kalay, at Caurem-Pirla, Kevona, a tree uprooted near forest gate and the road was blocked.
Incidents of falling of trees were also reported at Adnem, Bazarwada-Mollem, Bhendewada, Maina-Caurem, Caurem junction, Mirabag-Costi road, Kajuwada-Morpirla in Quepem, Dessaiwada-Uguem in Sanguem, Amona-Cotta in Quepem and Kusmone-Quepem.
When inquired about any casualty, Gawade said there was no injury to anyone. “Most of the calls are cleared and few pending will be cleared by today,” he added.
