Canacona police have registered an FIR against a family from Dapot-Maxem after a complaint was filed by Dr Deepak Sondhi, a resident of Navi Mumbai.

He accused them of trespassing into a bungalow in Dapot, Maxem, which he claims to have been in possession of for the last one-and-a-half years. The complaint also alleges that the accused assaulted his staff.

Police have booked Savio Wency Carneiro, Julie Carneiro and others under Section 329 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for unlawfully entering the bungalow, which Dr Sondhi says he was occupying through an MoU signed with Julie Carneiro after paying her Rs 43 lakh.

As per the police report, the incident took place on 13 April 2025 at around 2:00 pm. The accused allegedly entered the bungalow forcefully and pushed out Dr Sondhi’s manager, Ajay Singh Sanger, and another worker who had been appointed to look after the property.

They then took possession of the bungalow and stopped the staff from re-entering.

The case is being investigated by PSI Vishal L. Velip of Canacona Police Station.

Interestingly, in the last week of March 2025, the same Dr Deepak Sondhi had also lodged another complaint with Canacona police. He alleged that three residents of Loliem — Julie Carneiro, Flora, and Savio — had induced him to pay Rs 1.26 crore to buy a bungalow and its surrounding land, which, he later discovered, did not belong to them.

According to the earlier complaint, between December 2022 and March 2025, the three accused falsely claimed to own the property and promised to sell it to him. After receiving the full payment of Rs 1.26 crore, they allegedly failed to hand over the property. Dr Sondhi later found out, upon enquiry, that the property did not legally belong to the trio.

Police had then booked the three under Section 318 read with 3(5) of the BNS Act.
