In a drive to check the quality of cashew nuts, officials of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) inspected the premises of M/s Vishal Kaju Depo and Dry fruits located at Pedda-Varca, Salcete.
FDA Director Jyoti Sardesai said the Food Business Operator Mahindra Puri had allegedly stocked for sale spoilt, discoloured, damaged and unlabelled cashew nuts of approx 60 kg, costing around Rs 27,000.
The sub-standard stock was later destroyed by the FDA officials.
The inspection was carried out by Sr Food Safety officer Abel Rodrigues, Food Safety Officers - Zenia Rosario, Sneha Gaude and Abhishek Naik.
