Finally, Francis runs out of luck, charges framed in first case

MARGAO

Accused Francis Pereira’s virtual free run in the desecration cases in Salcete taluka came to an end on Thursday when the Judicial Magistrate First Class Margao Narayan Amonkar framed charges against him in the Chandor-Cotta “Tariyalo Khuris” desecration case.

Thursday proved a day of mixed luck for Francis when he was discharged in the Chandor Alma Khuris case, while being ordered to stand trial in the Cotta-Chandor Tariyalo Khuris desecration case by another court. While Judge Narayan Amonkar rejected his plea for discharge in the Tariyalo Khuris case, Judge Neelima Kankonkar granted the application made by Francis for his discharge in the Alma Khuris case.

With today’s discharge in the Alma Khuris case, Francis now stands discharged in 11 desecration cases reported in Salcete taluka.
