Five held for assault in Calangute

Calangute Police arrested five persons in connection with assault and rioting in Calangute on Wednesday morning.

According to the complainant, Ruhit Koswal, the five accused Sonu Gaude, Dharamchandra, Deepak Vaisla, Monu Bhaudha and Shubash Chauda entered into his shop, Mahi Kazu Trader in Calangute, and beat him and his co-worker, Akash Nagar with wooden sticks and kicks. The incident took place at around 9.30 am.

The accused also went on a rampage and destroyed the shop causing a loss of Rs 2.5 lakh, the complainant said.

Calangute Police swung into action and arrested all the five accused under Sections 143, 147, 326, 323, 427, 504 and 509 of IPC. PSI Marlon D’Souza is conducting further investigation.
