Foreign journalists have been left amazed over the poll preparedness by the Election officials on the eve of the May 7 polling for the South Goa seat.

“I am amazed by the way India is conducting the elections. This is quite unbelievable”, remarked an Israeli TV journalist as they descended at the Unique polling station set up at the Margao Municipal library on Monday evening.

Around 18 journalist from Bhutan, Mongolia and Israel, besides four Election Commissioners of these countries are in Goa to observe the poll preparedness carried out by the Election officials ahead of the May 7 Lok Sabha poll.

Monday saw the team first descending at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda where poll officials distributed the EVMs and polling material to the polling officials and staff. The team later visited the Ravindra bhavan, Margao where a polling station has been set up for the differently abled persons.

At the Unique polling station at the Margao Municipal Council, the team evinced keen interest in the artifacts on display, showcasing Goa’s rich cultural heritage. 

A prototype of a feni distillation unit attracted the attention of the team as they sought to know the operation of the unit.

An Israeli TV journalist later told the media that the poll preparedness undertaken by the Indian Election officials is incredible, saying that Israel has a lot and lot to learn how elections are being conducted in India. 

“We had an election in 2022 wherein 4.4 million people were eligible to vote. We may have been in a little neighbourhood in India, but what we have seen in Goa is amazing, how the entire process is organized”, the journalist added.
