Around 47 days after his arrest by the Economic Offences Cell, Nilesh filed a bail plea before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao, on Wednesday. The police are expected to file their reply to the bail application in the next few days.
In his bail application, the accused claimed innocence and submitted to the court that he is not involved in any manner in the crime. He said that he has cooperated with the investigation and is ready and willing to extend his cooperation even after his release on bail.
Meanwhile, the beleaguered depositors are expected to file an intervention application before the court to oppose the bail plea. Some of the depositors have appointed Adv Jeffery Martins to represent them in the case, who is expected to file the intervention application as and
when the bail plea comes up for hearing.
Raikar was arrested by EOC after around 300 depositors lodged their complaints
of cheating.
