Former deputy Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji Rudresh Chodankar (52) expired on Friday morning.
He had been ill for the last few months and breathed his last at a private hospital in Dona Paula.
His father, Vinayak Chodankar, was a minister in the 1970s and the Chodankar family, originally from Mayem, had settled in Mala-Panaji.
Late Rudresh Chodankar had been elected thrice as a councillor from Mala and went on to serve as deputy mayor for a period. He is survived by his wife, a five-year-old son and three married sisters. The final rites were performed at his native village in Mayem.
