GCET results to qualify for admissions to medical colleges

PANAJI

The results of the Goa Common Entrance Test will be used as a qualifier for admissions to the Goa Medical College and the Goa Dental College, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has announced.

Addressing a press conference, Parsekar said that after the ordinance from the Central government was assented by the President, all state-run medical and dental colleges will not be using NEET as a qualifier.

“The results of GCET will be considered for filling up State seats in the Goa Medical and Dental Colleges,” Parsekar said.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that NEET would be the only exam for admissions to medical and dental colleges all across the country and not the individual entrance tests being conducted by the respective states and managements. Earlier the State department had urged students not to skip GCET as “something was being worked out”.
