George D’Souza was elected unopposed as new Ucassaim sarpanch on Wednesday.
In the seven-member panchayat, five members were present for the meeting convened to elect new sarpanch.
It may be recalled that the earlier sarpanch had recently resigned as the sarpanch of the village panchayat.
Former sarpanch and Panch Anand Gadekar proposed D’Souza’s name, while Shubanan Mandrekar seconded it. Krishna Gadekar was the presiding officer for the meeting.
