Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and the farmers cultivating the fertile fields at Madel acquired by Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) for the controversial truck terminus around two decades ago, may not have much details over the proposal in the Master Plan 2041 for Margao in respect of the GSUDA acquired land admeasuring 1.37 lakh square metres.
Sardesai, however, has already sounded the war bugle, insisting that he and the farmers will not allow even an inch of the fields converted for the projects mooted in the Master Plan 2041.
After the acquisition around 2003, the zone of the lush green Madel fields was changed to a special commercial zone, around half a decade ago, with a portion of the acquired fields, marked for an IT hub.
The Master Plan 2014 speaks of a river front in the GSUDA acquired fields. At another place, the plan has proposed regeneration of the NH66 as a civic and commercial corridor, raising questions whether the GSUDA acquired fields at Madel also figure in the plan to develop the highway as a civic and economic corridor.
